Hon Khoi salt field of coastal town Nha Trang represents a unique link between farmers and nature.
Hon Khoi is located in Ninh Hoa Town, south-central Khanh Hoa Province, about 45 kilometers from Nha Trang’s center. Covering about 400 hectares, it is considered one of the largest salt fields in Vietnam.A busy day of salt workers here begins at dawn and ends amid the glorious sunset.
From early morning, seawater is pumped into the fields. Under the scorching sun, farmers gather the salt into small mounds to dry. At sunset, they collect the salt for processing.
The more sunny it is, the more salt could be harvested.
The salt harvest lasts from around April to July with the emergence of hot winds and high UV counts.
The scene of salt workers wearing conical hats, carrying baskets of pure white salt across mirror-like water surface, which reflects the blue sky, is a beautiful example of people connecting with nature.
The salt field resembles a giant mirror, reflecting every detail of the clouds.
Visitors are advised to hit Hon Khoi at either dawn or dusk to admire the bustling salt harvest scene.
